Dark and atmospheric as a foggy summer evening in San Francisco, English-American duo Tralala’s latest release “Winded” b/w “What’s the Point,” is a twossong couplet of brooding synth-laden post-punk. Johnny Marr’s producer and bandmate James Doviak is handling final mixing on the project by Chris Terwin (SF) and Drew Price (Atlanta). Angular guitars, off-kilter melodies, soaring synths, and more than a little ennui in the vocal delivery remind me of early 90s band Placebo, and their cinematic gender-bending tales of sadomasochism.
