On his new record Paradise, Simi Sohota’s band Healing Potpourri blends the gentle grooves of 70s AM radio with the avant-garde pop of 90s post-rock. The result is vivid, orchestral chamber pop that frequently leans into the psychedelic. Producer Sean O’Hagan has in fact worked extensively with Stereolab, and was at one time tapped to produce a Beach Boys record—touchstones you can recognize throughout the record.
