A veteran of the Bay Area punk and hardcore scene, Tony Molina’s latest record In the Fade explores his gentler, poppier side. While he was gaining a reputation for harder and faster material, he was writing and recording this collection of slower, more radio-friendly indie/baroque pop rock songs. His knack for finding a sweet hook or melody knows no genre, however; every song is an instant ear worm whether it’s contemplative folk rock or something harder driving. What’s clear on this record is that Tony Molina is one of the Bay Area’s most talented and versatile songwriters.
