“San Francisco scuzz-wave merchants.”
“As immediate and visceral as the bleach and booze waft of any good Mission district dive bar.”
“Fuckwolf has haunted the warehouse shows and dive bar gigs of the Bay Area for almost two decades.”
“More than a few lost years to the endless 7-day weekends of San Francisco’s post-millennium glory days.”
“Set for release on Bay Area alumni Ethan Miller’s Silver Current label.”
“A prime slab of underground rock with an unmistakably fried ‘San Francisco’ signature.”
(Just in case you didn’t know where this music hails from.)
Sometimes we have to dig for a long time to figure out how the music connects to the Bay. Rarely are we handed a feast of quotes on a silver platter as with Goodbye, Asshole—the first “proper” studio album from SF psych rockers Fuckwolf. The band’s members have previously collaborated with John Dwyer of Osees and Mike Donovan of Sic Alps, so you won’t be surprised by the nearly meditative yet punkish energy of these extended jams sizzling your eardrums to a nice oily crisp. Enjoy the well-done studio recordings at your leisure, but more than likely this is meant to be experienced live, so check ’em out at Baltic Kiss in Richmond on Nov 10 or at the Knockout on Nov 17.
