Just like black ice, if you weren’t paying attention, Richmond rapper Hitta Slim’s latest album came outta nowhere. With Traxx Fdr, his new EP Black Ice is a collaboration built on frosty synths, slick production, and cutting lyrics. Hitta Slim (fka The Legendary Laroo) is on E-40’s label Sick Wid It Records and is quickly becoming one of the great Bay Area rappers of our time. “Cutt’em Off,” featuring Iamsu!, is a stand out on the latest EP, but I still can’t stop playing last fall’s hit with Lil B “I’m Out”, and check out Slim’s IG page for how it’s become the soundtrack to a hilarious meme.
