“For the sad girl lowriders who grew up on corridos,” La Doña’s new release “Mañanas Tristes” featuring Fernington is a beautiful yet somber ballad for the morning after a celebratory night. Having grown up, literally and musically, in her family band in the Mission, La Doña is easily one of the Bay Area’s most versatile artists, moving deftly from hyphy rap to tejano to cumbia, and now to corrido. Although she’s heading out to Texas with her band for a four date tour over the next week, she’ll be back at the Independent n December 10th.
