Debut album Solstice by Intertidal is a dynamic new entry in the local post-grunge / alternative rock scene. On the lead single, soaring guitars wail high in the mix as double bass drum kicks crash like waves against the rocks. But this isn’t typical four-chord junk, as the rest of the album weaves multiple strains of more thoughtful hard rock together. There’s an articulate proggy element to the instrumentation and arrangements, leaving plenty to hone in on after repeated listens.
