Originally an instrumental bonus disc included with The Reds, Pinks and Purples excellent 2022 album Summer at Land’s End, Mountain Lake Park stands on it own as another fine example of the sweet, melodic guitar pop that Glenn Donaldson seems to have perfected. Like a flannel blanket on a cold and foggy day in the Outer Richmond, this album warms you up with richly textured, reverb-drenched songs that occasionally drift into a mysterious ambient drone. The sonic breadth on Mountain Lake Park showcases Glenn Donaldson’s considerable talent for writing pop music in an impressive array of styles.
